12th October - Ian Pratt Presentation and Cream Tea

Our Chairman Ian gave us a very colourful 40-minute presentation of his favourite Spring gardens.  Northcourt Manor in Shorwell which the group visited in the Summer, Furzey Garden, near Lymington, which won an award at Chelsea some years ago with a design by Chris Beardshaw, Exbury with its little steam train that runs through the glorious show of Azaleas, Bowood House Gardens where the Azaleas & Rhododendrons put on a spectacular show each Spring, Burrow Farm nr Honiton in Devon which was once a dairy farm & Bicton in Devon.

Following the presentation there was a tabletop ‘just for fun’ quiz set by our membership secretary Terri while the cream tea was being prepared.  Mounds of fruit and plain scones, a huge bowl of cream and the contents of 4 pots of jam were very much enjoyed by the 50 members present, all masterminded very efficiently by Sally (I think she also made some of the jams).

Many thanks to Pat & Kay for an excellent raffle with some very nice prizes & to others who helped in making the afternoon a big success.

Sheila
